Most of the time they get biracial people to play black people instead of getting actual black people. I don't see why they just don't make a biracial character already it's 2007.

Because white men are the producers, directors and casting agents. This is as close to black as they dare get. Civil Rights have brought black folks a long way, but there is a lot farther to go yet.

I have nothing against people of mixed race (my daughter is biracial). But I'm not so far removed from the world that I can't see that racism still exists, especially in the media.

Fair skinned women have always been considered more desirable to white men, that goes back to slave days. But we, as americans, are saying to the powers that be everyday with our music choices, our clothing purchases and the very style in which we chose to speak that, "Beauty is diverse!" and yes, "Black is beautiful, all shades of black"

Why do bears poop in the woods? Why do Asians have different eyes than Caucasian? Some things just are the way they are. More Black women are comfortable wearing their hair however they want now. Why do Caucasian women get perms? Yeah, even in commercials.

I've also noticed this. I think it's because, whether people like it or not, the large majority of black women aren't born with straight hair, they're born with kinky/curly/etc. hair.

So I think it's an attempt to show the "natural" black woman. My opinion, anyway. =)

OK ,don't listen to Jack Daniels, yes we have naturally curly hair, IF it is straight it's pressed, and extensions are an additive feature, ALL races do it, well, I don't personally, I prefer my own hair

Actually, most of the Black women u see everyday have chemically straightened hair. Most of the Black ladies I see in TV commercials have natural kinky hair. I'm not sure why it's different in movies. EX: Halle Berry is going to star in "Nappily Ever After", but she it half white with curly, not Nappy hair. Who friggen knows....
